What does no artificial colors and no artificial flavors really mean?
When we say “no artificial colors, colors from natural sources” that means we use colors which come from a natural source such as fruits, vegetables and plants. By “no artificial flavors” we mean that we only use flavors which come from natural sources.
Why are there white spots, discoloration or indentations on the surface of some of my candy?
When our delicious SweeTARTS leave the factory it is very important that it stay in moderate temperature conditions. However, if it gets too hot or humid, the ingredient that gives our candy its tart flavor can cause these spots, discoloration or indentations on the surface. It may look strange, but it’s safe to eat and does not change the flavor.
What is malic acid and why do you use it?
Malic acid is an organic compound and occurs naturally in all fruits and many vegetables, and is generated in fruit metabolism. It is the ingredient that gives our candy its tart flavor.
What does the messaging around “Thoughtful Portion” mean on pack?
Thoughtful Portions are the amount of that particular candy product which can fit as part of a balanced diet and daily active lifestyle. Serving Size is an average amount eaten, not necessarily a moderate portion.
What do the numbers on the back of the package/wrapper below the “Best by date” mean?
That series of numbers tells us when and in which of our factories the SweeTARTS was produced.
